REACHA, or Research and Extension Association for Conservation Horticulture and Agro-forestry, is a Voluntary Organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. REACHA identifies socio-economic and ecological needs of local people and the environment, across geographies in India, and present and deliver viable, practical, sustainable solutions that are led and driven by participating communities themselves.
REACHA in collaboration with the Indian Army engages youth through skill development, sports, cultural activities, and other programmes to dissuade them from involving in anti-national activities. This has been achieved through Chinar 9Jawan Club, Baramulla.
Due to the valley being in a conflict zone, many either lose or leave their jobs and a few have shown tendencies of going back to engaging in anti-national activities. In order to overcome this, REACHA and the Indian Army, with support from Genpact/NASSCOM Foundation (NF) initiated an innovative Cell for Livelihood Enhancement (CLE) in the late 2018 for Hospitality, Retail and Fashion Designing Courses, along with associated programmes like Entrepreneurial Development at the Chinar 9Jawan Club, with the objective to enhance livelihood prospects for the youth in a sustained long-term manner.
Youth from Chinar 9Jawan Club who join job-oriented courses like Retail and Hospitality also undergo basic computer and English training. Those who showed further interest in learning computer software were introduced to Kojo which is a learning environment to explore and play, create and learn with maths, science, art, animation, and games. A few young women and men keen on learning Kojo, underwent further 5 days of intense designing training.
Considering their entrepreneurial pursuit, REACHA along with Genpact installed the advanced software along with printing machine, heating machine and also supplied raw material for production of mugs and tee shirts. Thus, was formed the Kojo Group Enterprise!
